Dottie began piano lessons at age six until age 13. All through her high school years, she sang in the Youth Choir at the Salem United Methodist Church. At age 21 she learned to play the acoustic guitar. From 1991-1995 she worked at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas in the Entertainment Department. She was responsible for screening audition tapes from entertainers all around the world. During this time she received instruction from professional lounge musicians. In 1997 while in Roanoke, Virginia, Dottie had the privilege of being taught by Camille Glazebrook, a pianist at the Greenbriar Resort in West Virginia. Since coming to Houston two years ago, she has been active in the Chancel Choir at Foundry United Methodist Church. She attended Choir Workshops in 1998 and 1999 sponsored by the Houston Choral Society and recently completed two courses from the Houston Community College in voice and piano improvisation. She plays the keyboard at Assisted Living Care facilities in the Houston area and taught piano full-time from 1998-2003. Currently she is working at The Academy of Arts & Music at Foundry United Methodist Church.
